James Johnson

Executive Director

I grew up in the Minneapolis area and was the first in my family to go to college. I graduated from Wheaton College (IL) where I met my wife Corrie. We lived in Santa Ana, CA for 20 years. My background is in community-based cross-cultural ministries, volunteer-driven non-profit organizations, and higher education institutions where my focus has been on preparing middle and high school students for college success. I earned a Master’s of Education from Azusa Pacific University in 2007. My family moved back to the Chicago area three years ago. We have two children and live in Glen Ellyn. My passions include educational equity, Latinx youth and families and I am excited to serve as the Executive Director of CREO DuPage because of the opportunity to reconnect with people who share Latinx cultures, food, and value hospitality. Yo CREO!

Cynthia Diaz

Program Coordinator

As a first generation college student, I know first hand the difficulties and challenges that this journey comes with. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in sociology and the knowledge I have obtained has allowed me to have the cultural competence to work and build relationships with families and their communities. I started at CREO as a volunteer and it has allowed me to see all the great resources that CREO has to offer. Now as a Bilingual Program Coordinator, I am excited for the opportunity to be able to work hand in hand with the students and their families in order for them to achieve their goals.

Rosaura Ocampo

Program Assistant

I'm a proud first-generation Latina, born and raised in the Chicagoland area. I hold a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering from New York University (NYU). After graduating in 2020, I worked as an Applications Support Engineer for nearly two years in Natick, Massachusetts. I realized I missed my home and decided to pursue my Master's in Business Administration full-time at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). I am passionate about fostering a love for education in students and helping the Latine community rise and achieve their goals. I am excited to join CREO as Program Assistant and I hope to become a resource that the CREO community and families feel comfortable turning to.
